“Let’s start at the very beginning”…
When choosing our very first show for our inaugural season, there was only one choice that seemed right: Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music”. The classic movie musical is a fan favorite for good reason. It’s nostalgic, tells a powerful story, is full of beautiful music, and stars the queen herself: Julie Andrews.
Wilson County is no stranger to the show. Local theatre companies have produced it in the past, including the “old playhouse” as we are told, that once used to inhabit the historic Pickett Chapel. We aren’t reinventing the wheel, but simply bringing the classic show to life with a newfound immersive charm.
Our trailer (right) is filmed at another historic site in Wilson County: Baird Chapel on the campus of Cumberland University.
